RAMANATH S. RAO, MD, FACC
FAPI Past-President (2005-06)
FAPI Annual Diwali Charity was initiated in 2005 to foster community giving during Diwali. It began with FAPI’s $20,000 donation, allocated to notable charities like Spring of Tampa Bay and American Cancer Society. The event, held at the Mayor’s office in Tampa, was graced by Honorable Pam Iorio, who also declared Diwali an official city festival. Dr. Ramanath S. Rao’s yearly $1,000 contribution, matched by FAPI executives, reinforces this tradition. In 19 years, the initiative has amassed $50,000 to $60,000 in donations, benefiting local charities. The dedication of FAPI’s Presidents and Executive Committees ensures its continuity, inspiring future physician leaders.
